Living Well on the Cheap

In its article entitled “Living Well on the Cheap,” The Times Online recommends online DVD rental as cheap entertainment.

They note “the price of DVD rental is coming down” and that if you're vigilant, you can free trial hop and continue to get a stream of DVDs through your letterbox.

For instance, if you're on Irish market leader Screenclick's 3 disc out unlimited package at €27.99 per month, and average only 3 films per week (with 4.2 weeks in the average month), you'd average out to a mere €2.21 per disc. Try getting that rate at your local Xtra-Vision.

You simply can't beat that kind of value.

I second that about Xtravision, what a rip off when you can things much cheaper online. That said, I'll miss moviestar.ie, which was better value for money in my book.

I can only hope that screenclick won't monopolize it's monopoly on the market and hike up prices and reduce service. If so I'll need to look at some of sort of download service to get my cinematic fix, though I'm sure that would be more of a hassle.
